On May 18th, 2024, the EDPE Neighborhood Association hosted the Member's Only Progressive Dinner
This year's "Progressive Dinner" took us through to an appetizer house, a dinner house, and a dessert house, all with an Italian "Ciao, EDPE" theme! It was an awesome event with nearly 60 attendees, and lots of good charcuterie, custom made-to-order pizzas, and Italian desserts. If you have not attended this event in the past, make sure to sign up next year! |
The EDPE Association sponsored Community Forum took place on February 22nd in the Newcomb Auditorium
On February 22nd, 2024, we heard from Assistant Fire Chief Davis, School Board President Craighead, and City Councilman Supernaw. The event was very engaging, with each speaker giving a 15-20 minute discussion directed to topics identified in a survey EDPE residents filled out, followed by a 5-10 minute Q&A with those in attendance |
In November, the EDPE Neighborhood Association teamed up with Boy Scout Troop 117 as they ‘Scouted for Food' in a week long food drive. 738 items were collected, which far surpassed our original goal of 250 items! The food was donated to The Salvation Army and St. Gregory’s Food Pantry.
Following the event was a reception with live music, cocktails, and dinner served. The event was a hit, and neighbors had a chance to celebrate the success of the event together. We want to thank the neighbors who hosted donation bins at their homes, Newcomb Academy for distributing flyers and collecting so many items, and for the neighbors who hosted and volunteered their time to make the event and the reception a success! |
On September 23rd, we had an awesome movie night event, where neighbors came out, donated to the Long Beach Rescue Mission, ate pizza and popcorn, and watched "Minions: Rise of Gru." We collected over $1500 worth of monetary and physical donations - $500 more than our initial goal! We also want to thank the city of Long Beach for their generosity in providing us a $1500 grant that was used to fund much of the food and snacks at the event. |

June 3rd marked the successful return of the Double Decker Progressive Dinner!
After a three year long hiatus, the Double Decker Bus Progressive Dinner came roaring back. Sixty neighbors loaded onto a Double Decker Red Bus at Newcomb Academy and toured through the neighborhood before arriving at Stop #1 for drinks and appetizers with Linda & Joe Sopo. Bus and home tour sponsored by Chris Garby, GCR Construction, (562) 421-6211.
Guests got back on the bus and headed over to Stop #2, the home of Heather & Ryan Peterson, for a dinner of fresh tacos prepared onsite alongside a beautiful EDPE sunset.
Dessert was served at our final stop, the home of Michelle and Larry Culbertson. Neighbors lounged by the pool, roasted marshmallows, played cornhole and enjoyed fruit platters from Edible Arrangements, donated by The Castillo Family.
Guests left with bags of homemade popcorn in hand lettered bags affixed with gold seals to emphasize our theme of ‘Keeping it Local’. Lucky raffle winners went home with goodies from our local sponsors. Please support the local vendors that added items to our raffle or contributed their time to the event.

Sip 'n' Stroll Slid Through All Four Quadrants in the Month of MARCH
Our March membership drive included the roll-out of four Sip ’n’ Stroll events, one in each of the four EDPE quadrants. Neighbors emerged from their pandemic cocoons and joined one another in the streets for drinks, snacks, mingling and music.
These events gave your new 2023 Association Board members a chance to introduce themselves to the community.
Across all four events, 300+ neighbors came together to enjoy and celebrate the EDPE. Thank you to everyone that made the four events a success! Join us for Part Two in the Fall. |

El Dorado Park Estates Neighborhood Association Welcomed in a New Board at Recent Community Forum
On Tuesday, October 18th , the EDPE Neighborhood Association voted in its new Board of Directors at the Community Forum held at Newcomb Academy. Please click here to find the board presentation of new members, updated goals and recent accomplishments.
East Division Commander Mike Richens and LB Police Chief Wally Hebeish spoke to the group about the importance of reporting any activity small or large to the police department. It is their only way of knowing what’s happening within the community and helps them identify trends and when to deploy resources to our neighborhood. Commander Richens left behind a Holiday Safety Tips document to help prevent you from being a victim of crime. Marc Wright with the public works department spoke about the slurry project that is taking place in 2023. Please click here for a map of the streets slated for slurry. If your street is not highlighted and in need of repair, we suggest you reach out to Mr. Wright directly. You can find his email address in the presentation. His department is not in charge of the larger street projects such as Wardlow and Studebaker. For those that want to escalate the need for Wardlow to be repaired, we suggest you reach out to our Councilman Daryl Supernaw. Lastly, we encourage you to GET INVOLVED! If you wish to attend a EDPE Neighborhood Association board meeting or spearhead a project let us know! |
